How To Make Liquid Sprue Putty

Updated: Feb 27, 2021

Liquid Sprue Putty can be used for filling gaps, holes or scratches.

Items Needed:

1. Tamiya Extra Thin Cement

2. Sprue Nippers/ Cutters/ Hobby Knife

3. Spare Plastic Sprue (Cut into small bits- about 1/4 long max)

The Process: 1. Drop the bits of cut sprue into the Tamiya Bottle. The consistency of the liquid putty is going to be dependent upon the ratio of sprue bits to glue.

2. Close the bottle and let it sit overnight.

3. The next day agitate the mixture with a toothpick. Personal preference will dictate if you want thicker or thinner liquid sprue putty. Trial and experimentation are key to finding the consistency that you are happy with. If you want the mixture thicker, add more sprue bits. If you want the mixture thinner, add more Tamiya cement.

Warning: The fumes from the process and the liquid sprue putty can be hazardous and very toxic. Be careful when making and using the mixture, ensuring you have adequate ventilation.
