A private commission involves working collaboratively with the client to

create a work of art that they have been dreaming of for themselves or for

someone else.  Have you ever wanted to give that unique gift to a veteran

family member.  I can design and build that World War II Diorama for your

loved one.  I can give guidance to bring the reality of a built plastic scale

model to life for you to have as a conversation piece.

For those who are considering a private commission, I’ve put together                             this guide of what to expect from the process.  If you are working with a                         specific deadline, please let me know prior to beginning the project so                           we can determine if/how to meet your needs.

The “finish date” is NOT the delivery date. The “finish date” is that date                           that I submit an emailed photo of the project for your approval.

Here are the 5 phases I follow when working on a scale model commission.

PHASE 1: THE INITIAL ONLINE QUOTE/ INFORMATION GATHERING/ QUICK SKETCH

  • Sometimes a client will have an exact image in their mind of what they want, while others have only a vague idea.  Now is the time to try and refine what the build should look like.

  • At this stage, I gather the necessary information from the online submission.  Then I contact the client for further details as needed for the build and what kits will be needed.  I will also begin my initial quick sketch in my sketchbook; putting all the ideas on paper.  Once we’ve decided on a concept and refined the details, it’s onto the next phase.

PHASE 2: THE CONTRACT & DEPOSIT

  • The client and I will both sign a contract that outlines the ownership rights, the build details, estimated completion date, tentative shipping cost options, etc. At the same time, the client will pay their 50% deposit.  Once all of this is complete, then it's time to gather any needed kits and materials and move into the next phase.

PHASE 3: THE SKETCH

  • I will develop and scan the final sketch and send it to the client in a digital format for final review and approval.  The client and I will take the time to tweak, alter and improve the project layout sketch until final approval is given on the sketch.

PHASE 4: THE BUILD

  • This is the "meat and potatoes" of everything we've come to at this point.  I sit down and let the magic of the build begin.

  • I will document, through digital photographs, the key highlights of the build process.  I will send these digital images to the client so they can see what goes into the making of their unique project.

PHASE 5: DELIVERY

  • This is the point at which I will send the finished build digital photographs to the client prior to shipping the project to them.

  • The project will be carefully packed up and shipped to the client.

  • Tracking information will be provided to the client via email.
